What is freedom? When you look at your life, do you feel free?

Some might consider freedom to simply be the ability to go where you want, do what you want, say what you want. But take a second to really slow down, look at your thoughts, and question where you're really, truly, actually... free.

One of my favorite quotes is by a man named Viktor Frankl, a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps. He writes in his book, Mans Search For Meaning:

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedom -- to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

The loss of inner freedom

When I look out into the world, what I see is this inner freedom, 'the last of the human freedom” as Frankl points out, is being stripped from us. It is slowly taken being away through the presence and power of fear.

We might feel like we are free externally. But if we don’t take the time to hold onto "the ability to choose our own attitude in any given circumstances, to choose one's own way," this will quickly become an illusion.

It is vitally important, now more than ever, to take the time to turn inward and question the narrative. Question the stories that you are living out, understand yourself and who you want to be on a deeper level.

We create our freedom

We don't need to give our power away to something outside ourselves. We are the creators of our own reality.

Turn off the noise. Come back to Self. Understand the stories you're being told, and choose for yourself.
