Finding purpose outside of football has been quite the journey.

When I first walked away from the game, I really wanted to experience what it was like to be free from the expectations, no longer having to compete or perform at such a high level. I wanted to know what it was like to be free from the judgment of my performance on the field, constantly feeling the weight and anxiety of having to always be on top of my game. (I talk about the challenges I faced during my NFL career Episode 1 of my podcast, Life Beyond The Game.)

During the first 8 months of my road trip, I experienced that freedom to the fullest by:

  • visiting friends and family across the country.
  • attending over 40 baseball games in 15 different stadiums.
  • hiking through 6 different national parks.
  • connecting with like-minded people from all over.
  • going to music festivals.
  • watching sunsets over the coast.
  • snowboarding through the mountains.
  • driving through the desert during a sunrise (one of my favorite things to do).

I did it ALL, and it was life-changing!

Now what?

But, there came a point when I thought to myself, now what? I knew that I had something more to offer this world. Deep down, I wasn't satisfied with what I had accomplished, I wanted to be of service in a bigger way.

So many have this idea that happiness is right around the corner and think, “I’ll be happy when _____.”

  • I make more money
  • I retire
  • the right person to loves me
  • I find that one thing missing from my life

But, that's not how it works. Life is happening right now, not in the future.

And what I've realized, in order to find true fulfillment and real happiness, in this moment, where we actually live, we need to show up in service of something bigger than ourselves.

That's when I started asking myself: “How can I be of service?”

How can I be of service? The answer finally hit me...

Build a community for former athletes.. 'Go on this journey together,' I thought.. 'you aren't the only one who wants to find purpose, who wants to make a difference in the world, who wants to reach for their highest potential.'

So I started down the path, answering the call, finally creating The Härt Collective, an exclusive community built for former male professional athletes - providing a safe place for like-minded, high achieving former male athletes to find purpose, develop skills, collaborate, and create, a better world for themselves, their families and their communities.

It’s a community for guys who can go through the experience of transitioning out of professional athletics together, and who want to focus on achieving success in their lives off the field.

Starting The Härt Collective has been quite the journey. I've learned so much about myself, how to relate to others, entrepreneurship. And the lessons just keep on coming. But, I trust that THIS is what I'm meant to do. It's giving me purpose and it’s finally coming together! Of course, I still experience doubts, self-limiting beliefs, and fears. And I know that they show up for everyone.

The difference between the people who are successful and able to manifest their visions into reality are the ones who are courageous enough to keep going.

If you are one of those people, someone who is courageous enough to reach your highest potential, I urge you to check out The Härt Collective. If you feel called to join us in the community, fill out an application and we will talk soon!
